Woman Rescued by Using Alarm On Her Alert Bracelet

Medical Alert Jewelery saves lives and it is not always for the reason that they were designed. A 77 year old woman, in Ohio, was rescued from a serious assault because she activated the alarm on her medical alert bracelet. EMS responders arrived at her residence whilst the attack was still underway. They caught the perpetrator, who has now been convicted, in the midst of the act.

Medical Alert Jewelery has a variety of functions today. Technology has moved on so far that warnings about medical conditions, active medications, and allergy issues can be combined with other functionality.

Two of the more common advanced features that are available are:

GPS stands for Global Positioning System.

A GPS device can be tracked using satellites. It provides reliable location information as long as it is the line of site of four satellites. This is almost anywhere on earth. This can provide vital data when trying to locate a loved one that has wandered off due to their medical condition. This obviously does not prevent the wandering but provides peace of mind that as long as the patient is still carrying the device they will be much easier to locate and it drastically reduces the search time.

Alarms:

Alarms normally consist of a panic button that forms part of the jewelery, a base unit located in your house and a phone line to the emergency services. Traditionally you had to be within about 600 feet of the base unit in order to activate the device. With the advent of mobile technology, there are now many portable alternatives.

Depending on your situation it may well be worth considering upgrading yours or your loved ones Medical Alert Jewelery to increase its functionality and your peace of mind.
